My name is Eric Svenningson (hence where the “clever” Sventography name came from) and originally lived in New Jersey but now reside in beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. I have been a professional photographer for about 12 years now, starting to make money from my camera while I was in high school. However, I have been shooting photos as my biggest passion and favorite hobby for about 20 years, since I was about 9 years old when I was given a Kodak point and click camera, you know, the ones where you had to pay for film and then take photos blindly, hoping that you managed to get at least one decent picture of your family vacation to Italy…which you wouldn’t even find out until the film was developed. like 3 weeks later…
I remember going on many vacations and important family events and having to find out after the film was developed and I received my photos that MAYBE one or two of them were actually useful and not blurry or all around just bad shots. But anyway, I digress.
My memory hasn’t always been the best, so I would often forget people I met, places I’ve been to, etc. and my memories were constructed merely out of the stories that people would tell me. So, photography became my memory.
Taking photos became an obsession for me. I would constantly wander off to see the things that everyone else WASN’T seeing. Then I started getting offered paying gigs to take photos, and I’ve never looked back.
I have worked in many of the diverse fields of photography, ranging from portraits and products, to wild concerts and model shoots. Ever since I began getting hired for photography jobs the name Sventography just popped into my head, and I knew that whenever I got the chance to open my own photography business that’s what I was going to name it.
While this site for Sventography will primarily be for showcasing my work and allowing possible clients to see my portfolio and feel comfortable knowing they are hiring a true professional, I also want to share this site with other photographers, especially those who are just starting out and have questions. I want this to be a community for photographers to mingle and share news, updates, information, and most importantly be there to help each other.
Sventography Studios is more than just taking photos. It’s capturing moments that only happen ONCE in a lifetime. It’s being able to talk photography and the latest photo gossip with fellow photo enthusiasts. It’s a place to buy and sell photos, as well as rent out time and space for galleries or even just space on the website and store.
<————– Oh and we also have an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) [a.k.a. ‘Drone’], so we get those shots from hard to reach places 😋
